What do Christians believe?
If you want to find out more about Jesus this page may help. We try to read the Bible regularly together and put it into practice. We are also Baptists - Christians who express their faith with some of the convictions found here.

Visitors and members...
Anyone is welcome to attend the church services and either observe or participate with us in worship activities as they feel comfortable.
What should I expect as a visitor at a Church service?
The service begins at 10:30am, usually with a prayer and notices from one of the leaders.

There is no particular dress code (except being decent!) and it is not expected that visitors contribute financially.
The service order changes, but there will be a combination of scripture readings, songs, prayers and a sermon.

Words for songs and scripture appear on a screen using a projector so that it is easy to follow along.

Occasionally there is space for discussion of the text within the service in smaller groups, or thoughts and questions shared by those who wish to.

Scripture is usually a mix of Old and New Testament material throughout the service, working through either a book of the Bible or a theme over time.
For example, when looking at John's gospel over a series of months, one service had an OT story at the start of the service, a Psalm read communally in the middle, and then a chapter of John read before the sermon. In this way other texts give background material or highlight themes.

Ordinarily we take communion once a month, on the first Sunday. This can be referred to as 'the Eucharist' or 'the Lord's Supper' in other contexts. We eat and drink a small amount of bread and red fruit juice. This is a symbolic 'memorial' meal to remember the sacrifice of Jesus' body and blood, for the forgiveness of those who trust Him.

Because taking communion is part of declaring what we believe, if you do not believe in Jesus' sacrifice for your forgiveness personally, please simply watch and reflect at that stage instead of eating the bread / drinking the juice.

Messy Church Sundays will look at bit different from this, please see the blog post for possible activities!

What is the difference between a visitor and a member?
Anyone is welcome to attend the church no matter what they believe, but only church members have a vote at business meetings which determines how the church is run.

Church members have made particular faith commitments and commitments to serve the local church here in Landbeach.
It is held in our rules that 'Membership shall be open to all who profess repentance towards God, who hold the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ and profess faith in Him and whose lives bear evidence of their Christian profession' (1997 AGM minutes).
